Locals urged to roll up their sleeve for another year

1 min read

After a successful year of donations, Australian Red Cross is encouraging the Strathalbyn community to continue rolling up their sleeve in 2025 and beyond.

More than 330 donations were collected at the Strathalbyn Mobile Donor Centre in 2024.

With each donation saving up to three lives, the local impact was far reaching.

Blood and plasma donations also help improve the quality of life for people living with cancer, immune conditions, blood disorders and more.

The flow-on impact of this incredible generosity to their families is profound.

“You never know when you or someone you love may require blood,” Lifeblood spokesperson, Zoe Ross, said.

“We rely on the ongoing kindness of the community to donate to meet the nation’s growing patient demand.

“Blood can be donated once every 12 weeks – that equals four donations a year and totals just four hours of time.

“It is a small sacrifice for a life-changing impact.”

Lifeblood’s Strathalbyn Mobile donor centre will be located at the Strathalbyn Library on Monday through to Thursday.

Existing and new donors are welcome.
