The Southern Argus’ Shop Local passport promotion has well and truly taken off, with many supporting local businesses and helping to keep the local economy strong.
Locals still have until October 13 to take the ultimate trip around the region, sampling the finest goods on offer and experiencing the best customer service along the way.
Participating business Strathalbyn Tyre Service has had its deal flying out the door since the promotion commenced this
month.
“The passport has been amazing, the four for three tyre promotion has been a ripper for us,” Peter Harrip, of Strathalbyn Tyre Service, exclaimed.
“I saw on Strath Shop and Chat the other night a lady was asking about tyres and a few responses referenced the passport promotion saying ‘don’t forget there’s a tyre shop doing four for three’, so the word is out there and it has been really good for us.”
A Shop Local to Win passport is still available to collect free of charge from any of the 23 participating businesses.
Just five stamps will qualify you for an entry into the draw to win $2000.
Each passport entitles you to discounts available across a selection of local businesses involved in the promotion.
When making a purchase in-store, receive the discount on offer and have your purchase validated via a special ‘Shop Local’ stamp on your promotional passport page.
Mr Harrip was thankful for the initiative and encouraged others to ‘shop local’ year-round.
“If they don’t and those businesses disappear, you will have no option but to travel somewhere else, it is as simple as that,” he said.
“If you don’t go to Daish or you don’t go to Mitre 10 or you don’t go to the newsagents etc. and you don’t support them, then they might disappear, and you will have no other option but to go to Mount Barker, Murray Bridge of Victor Harbor to get things you could have got locally if you had supported them.
“There’s still time to receive our discount which will run into October, so don’t miss out.”
The winner of the $2000 major cash prize will be announced via The Argus on October 20.
