Strathalbyn show volunteer awarded Life Membership, other volunteers sought

1 min read

A dedicated volunteer was recently presented with Life Membership of the Strathalbyn Agricultural Society.

Jenny O’Loughlin was among five women to last-year receive the honour, but was unavailable on show day due to being abroad.

At a recent show meeting, Mrs O’Loughlin was presented her certificate by President Rex Liebelt.

“Jenny has worked tirelessly for many years as a tradespace convener for Strathalbyn Show,” he said.

“She puts hours and hours of work in every year to run the section.

“She has put in a really outstanding effort and we really appreciate all the time she has dedicated.”

Mrs O’Loughlin joined the show committee in 2008 and immediately took on convener responsibilities.

“She has done it for around 15 years, so it has been a long time and we wanted to say thank you,” Mr Liebelt said.

“Even though she was away, she still did all the work leading up to last year’s show.”

Volunteers needed

The Strathalbyn Agricultural Society has put the callout for volunteers for October long-weekend’s major community event.

A variety of roles are available for everyone from high school students to retirees.

Those interested may wish to help in the lead-up to the event, or to provide necessary manpower on show weekend.

The event is completely run by volunteers and may fail to go ahead without community support.

For more information contact (strathshow@gmail.com) or attend the upcoming AGM event on Monday, February 6 at 7.30pm.
